Sitting at the kitchen table a couple of hours ago (with a view of the exterior door ___upper half is glass----),. I had a momentary glimpse of something flying into the glass portion....... also heard a loud "thump"!.

Went out the door and there on the deck was a male Valley Quail...... knocked our like he had been hit by Joe Lewis!!!!!! Picked him up and performed CPR, but to no avail...
He now is dressed and wrapped in Saran Wrap, and in the freezer, destined to be on the menu in the near future.
First time in 37 years has a wild quail ever flown into a door or window on my home........ several birds and about 5 or 6 Ruffed Grouse have done this in the past.

It would be great if the trout down in the creek could fly.....
