Saw a couple of bobcats on my property in east county San Diego the other day.

My Wife and I were returning from our walk and almost to our house (up a 400 foot driveway) when a Big Brown Bobcat went loping by about 50' in front of us and didn't even see us. I alerted my Wife which startled the 2nd one as she (guessing) came around a large hollyberry bush. It hit the skids and turned around and a quick look back where the first one had gone just in time to see the tail end disappear around another bush.

I had seen another earlier this year but this was the first time I have ever gotten such a good look. The one that went in front of us was HUGE and very Dark Brown with spots. All the pictures I have ever seen were much lighter and spotted. This guy was the size of a large dog and very thick body and legs, I'm guessing 40-50lbs at least.

Anyway just thought it was cool.

wow-they're pretty good at hiding so seeing them was really special. Wonder if the color is a seasonal thing.

They are around 30 lbs but look much larger with all that hair. We heard a female looking for her cubs midday out by Campo. Normally you won't hear or see during the day but she was very vocal. Have you heard the toms at night during breeding season? Blood curdling

The one that turned around when he saw us was probably 30lbs or so but the big one on front was bigger. It was 3 -3 1/2 feet long and 2 feet tall.

I found 1 of his paw prints and it was around 3 inches in diameter.

Here's a photo of a pretty large bobcat strolling on the beach at Siesta Key, FL, in the middle of the day.

This is from the local news station and the photo is from June 2017.

That is very cool. Some years ago I saw a pair of bobcats while riding my bike (in south OC). Their heads were poking up out of the dried grass watching me. I read that they are usually solitary, so those were probably mating pairs that we both saw.

This guy was sitting on the other side of our fence last summer. Our bobcats are much smaller than in other areas. He was maybe 20 lbs or so.

I lived on Siesta key in 1980, saw a Fl Panther in the Myaka state park just outside Sarasota, lots of wildlife around those parts.

With all of the urban sprawl, we're encroaching on their traditional territories.
