After looking at the video; I think the turkeys saw their reflection in the paint on the side of the car. Wild turkeys will do that; if they see their reflection in a window or mirror. They will spend hours pecking at their own picture. I have watched them attack my greenhouse, one small chicken coup with a side mirror, and my downstairs windows. They are almost oblivious to humans, as long as we do not get too close during these 'reflection challenges'.

I would have liked to see what happened if the police officer stopped his/her patrol car and got out. My feeling is that the turkeys would have scattered. Perhaps there is a chance the patrolman had too much 'chicken' in his/her veins? We have had these 'aggressive' turkeys within feet of us and have never had problems. But wild animals should be respected and different individuals have different temperaments.

I mentioned these birds on another thread on this board. When I was in WV I had my experiences with them. As I said on the other thread I was more than able to put the boots to the big toms that tried to flog me. I've seen roosters in the barn yard act this way as well and they got the same treatment shortly before winding up in a stew pot. However an elderly or seriously disabled person could be seriously hurt by this behavior, and from wild birds, so prolific as turkeys are back East and other places they really have become a nuisance.

Wasn't a single person I knew back there that didn't have turkey dinner frequently at all times of the year in WV. Hunting season? What's that?
