Very often in nature, but also in cities where there are trees nearby it seems like my face catches those annoying strings of spider silk. Am I the only one annoyed by it. As a kid I don't remember anything like that, is it only happening to tall people (I am 6')? Am I the only one?

Only if I were to awake from a deep sleep, and found I was wrapped up like a big cocoon.

You might have sensitive skin. Also know that spider webs are pure silk protein and you could theoretically be allergic to the protein. But also, being a protein, it is possibly a little static-y and that is all that you are noticing. Once you feel it you think "yuck spider!!" and it seems worse than it really is.

It only bothers me if I get it in my eyes or across my eyelashes, otherwise it's just a mild tickly distraction elsewhere.

It does bother me, because I assume the spider that made it is now in my hair. I flail my arms and run around like a crazy person every time it happens. Whenever I walk in the woods, I wave a stick in front of me to break any spider webs in my path.

So glad the neighbors can't see me walking around waving sticks in the air.

In my case, there seem to be spider webs between every single bush and tree in my backyard. I'm sure that with all the yard work I do, my neighbors by now have assumed that I suffer from St. Vitus dance from all the jumping around and flailing I routinely exhibit. On the other hand, I'm providing a free show!
