Florida is the most southern of the "southern states" but only the lower keys are actually in the "tropics". Hawaii, while not typically a southern state, is solidly in the tropics and would have the most tropical biome.

Use the coconut palm as an example. The only place in the continental U.S. that has coconut palms is Florida and southern Florida is the only place where they can thrive without occasional frost damage or a cold snap killing them. That's as tropical as you're going to get without taking a boat ride to an island.
