Well.. went out to the front porch a bit ago and it was the 2nd time I ran a bird out of that nest again.... so, they are nesting a second time (the flycatchers) and.. been noticing another flycatcher flying back and forth to a nest they built 2 yrs ago in the back over the porch light so there's another nesting going on. One in the front and one in the back. Now I can't go anywhere!! I had to creep in very quietly every time I was out after dark the last time to not scare the birds out in the dark... now they're posted at both doors!
Just go about your business and enjoy your close up look at nature. They found your site preferable for certain reasons, and your presence has not changed nor truly inhibits their lives. I have robins on my back door. She flies away and squawks like a banshee every time I go out. Sorry Mrs. Robin: My door before your nest. Every year she hatches two or three and they fledge without trouble. My presence can't be too much of an impediment.

We did pretty good. One of the reasons I'm careful tho is that I read that a lot of birds, once it's dark, they don't see very well to fly and can easily be injured and I didn't want that to happen to mama.
But yeah.. it gets old.
I originally thought they were ruby throated, but they are Anna's. I live in So Cal. For those who don't know this species, here's what an adult male looks like.
