I've seen those but only a few and not in clumps. I was reading up on them. Apparently they don't bite or make you itch. But thanks for letting me know what those are because I have seen them.

Before I go outside today I will spray my toes, feet and ankles. Chiggers are obviously having a last gasp even as it is cooling down and humidity is ceasing.

I don't remember if you said you object to chemicals, but if they were in my yard and getting me on a regular basis, I'd spray the lawn and any nearby weeds. Everybody's tolerance level is different, and I can respect their choices regarding insecticides, but sometimes you gotta do something to make life livable.

I'm pretty moderate about chemicals. I will use them if absolutely necessary. At this point I feel like going out and buying a gallon of DDT! Just kidding but... maybe not LOL

We've had a dry year for this area so the chairs have not been out in force all summer but lately we've had rain so they're back. A last gasp of summer bugs.

Started sitting outside on my porch 10 minutes ago and now I'm itching. No bugs in sight. I just don't know what's up. Clearly I've become sensitized to something.

I get my lawn sprayed for ticks. It doesn't affect any of the butterflies, caterpillars, or spiders in the garden beds, so I'm pleased by that. However, the spray also doesn't kill any mosquitos either, so I don't garden when it's getting toward sunset, which is when they all come out. Mosquitos regard me as an open buffet.

I wonder if there is a spray for chiggers. If I am still here next year, I will definitely look into it. I am an outdoor person and don't like staying inside because of bugs!

Beat me to it. When working in fields you coat your legs with sulfur dust. Pretty standard in Texas ranch and construction work. We keep it in baby powder containers.
