Heavy snow once again blanketed the San Bernardino Mountains but a couple of bald eagles continue to make the best of it being literally covered in snow and protecting their eggs. There's a web cam showing them clearing out the nest after snow almost covers them completely. Despite the snow, the baby eagles are expected to hatch in April.

Farm out! Thanks for posting. I was just watching the cam and saw the changing of the guard as Momma arrived home and Papa left quickly. He seemed antsy. (I get the impression she won't let him smoke cigars in the house around the kids)

Beautiful. I saved the link because I'm going to show it to Mr. Daynet a little later on.

Mom is definitely the boss in this family. She seems to be older and more experienced. He seems to be quite young, still having a few dark feathers around his face and tail. Perhaps this will be his first time raising a family.
Just before sunrise and just around sunset is the best time to watch the changing of the guard. Dad seems unsure when mom comes back and spread his wings over the nest as if protecting the eggs from her but then he comes to his senses and lets her take over. She's always the one spending the night on the nest and seems to spend much more time there than he does. When it's time for him to take over, she usually makes a few calls to him and then leaves before he returns but then he's always back within a couple of minutes.

The little ones have hatched and are adorable! Dad faithfully brings back the catch of the day for mom and babies to eat. He just brought back another half eaten fish, LOL. Mom greets him, stands up and lets him inspect the kids for his approval. She's now with the babies 24/7 while dad goes off to work to provide the meals.
