I need to find the "mean high tide line" of a location. I am sure there has been no such line established before; so this must be done from scratch. Anyone knows how to do that?
Mean high tide is a monthly average of all of the high tides that occur in an area. It will be approximately between the high tide at the full/new moon and the one at the half moon.
I see that you are in California.

Mmm, no. A NOAA chart will note what the depth is in different locations at some tidal stages. The mean high tide mark is on land...nautical charts don't show much detail about land. Charts will show what the bottom is like, where rocks and reefs are, location and type of navigation aids and markers, and include inset notes about currents or unusual tidal effects, but not the extent of tidal reach. Charts aren't updated often enough for them to be very useful. There are more locally specific NOAA publications including the Coast Pilot that gives more detailed info hard to display on charts.

Thanks for the link. Interesting department. I email the state Lead Surveyor to see if he has the exact steps to do this.
