Loon beaks have a sharp point. They spear fish with it. If it goes through scales, it can go through feathers.

Loon beaks are like daggers. It's not a duck. Parrot beaks can't stab.

You really need to click on the link and watch the video.

They did an autopsy and determined it died from stab wounds of a loon's beak.
