I had no idea black bears could climb this well. The video is of a mama bear and her cub.

oh my gosh! I'd be afraid to watch too long. It doesn't really look like it's too natural for them.

Amazing what animals can do, when they're not strangled by fear...

This is just my observation. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have seen several blacks bears. The bears I saw were kind of lumbering and heavy. A few years ago, we vacationed in Big Bend National Park and stayed at the Chisos Mountain Lodge. We saw a couple of black bears in the parking lot in the early morning hours. Black bears down south look to me to be longer limbed and thinner (think a toilet paper tube with four pipe cleaners stuck in for legs). They look like they can haul A over steep terrain.

What a breathtaking video and yes I have read bears are able to rock climb. To see the young one crawling up,feeling for fissures in a rock wall is just incredible daring and brave.

Pretty impressive. Thanks for sharing. I've seen plenty of bears (up close and personal) but I've never seen anything like that!
