Reminds me a bit of how I ended up with a goldfish years ago... I was at the pet store with my mom while she got cat food, and I always like to look at the fish. Well, I saw this little fantail goldfish looking a bit scraggly and being beaten up by the other fish. I figured the poor thing was sick/dying and the other fish were ganging up on it for that reason. Decided I'd bring it home and let it die in peace.

Except it perked up, and that's how I got a fish, lol. I learned a lot about goldfish that I'd never known before. (I'll never really know why she was being bullied by the other fish, but I'm glad I got her out of there.)

I can't say why...for sure anyway, but this thread has made me want a "dime store" goldfish. Is there such a thing as a dime store anymore???? OR would I be able to find one somewhere. else?

Do you mean one of those "feeder" goldfish? You can find them at any pet store... but keep in mind they're going to need a bigger tank than a "fancy" type (will get larger, too). Think 10-gallon minimum for one fish. They are champs at messing up water, so you'll need filtration and weekly water changes.

Well...thank you for sharing that knowledge K12, sincerely. Now that I've been educated in that regard, I'm thinking I might as well get another dog...or maybe an elephant!

"Proper" goldfish care is more involved than you ever would've thought... yes, I found out, lol (see post #11). But, it's not a huge deal-- it's just a bit more complicated than "put it in a bowl and forget about it." They're fun to have (and still less trouble than a dog. ).
