Long distance backpacking, alone, in rugged country, is going to be rough, both physically and mentally. Few people (percentage-wise) will be able to do that.

Yeah, I agree. It's only a small number that even complete a long distance thru hike. Many of the YouTubers flat out admit to skipping parts of the trail, and many more claim to be walking every step but are clearly not. Their miles just don't add up. Then there are the small number of dedicated thru hikers who do walk every step of the way, all the way from Mexico to Canada.
This was an interesting video. Sunshine’s Hiking and Adventure Vlogs. I posted one of her videos here last year. She was very determined to have continuous uninterrupted footsteps all the way from Mexico to Canada. I was a little disappointed in her finish. She was just crushing miles, and finished at the Canadian border in the middle of the night. I was having a hard time understanding why she would just end her finish video like that in the dark. But recently she uploaded the video of her walk back out to the trailhead. She talks about how scared she was that the fires were going to close the trail just miles before she could get to the terminus. I think she was far enough ahead of the fires that that was not going to happen. But her fears were justified. All of the other hikers I was following got cut off by the fires and couldn't finish their hikes. She was clearly determined not to let anything get in her way of a finish.
These two appeared in Stella's last video. His videos are pretty good. They look pretty slow but at least they hiked the selection that Stella skipped. I guess Stella is getting into Blue Blaze shortcuts now.
This is going to be a good one. Travelinbeat just started his PCT hike. It's going to be challenging with the snow conditions, but he seems to be ready for it.
