Can moose's attack people? Like one time when the dog musher, Susan Butcher and her dogs were attacked by a crazed moose on the trail during the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in 1985. The moose was also pregnant.
They can, and do. There have been incidents of moose attacking humans, attacking cars, etc. during rutting season. Talk about hormones gone wild!
If they feel threatened, of course they can attack. Most of the time they will just run away if they are startled but you never know. They are huge, strong animals and people should leave them alone. Anyone who is dumb enough to walk up to a wild moose and try to touch it or feed it deserves what he gets.
By the way, there is no such word as "mooses." One moose, two moose.
I saw a guy get moose stomped in Alaska. Some other people scared the moose away before he did too much damage, but he got stomped pretty good.
When I lived in Colorado we were hunting Elk and the moose were new and protected. We had this young bull that wanted to fight and wouldn't leave us alone. We were literally hitting it in the face with our bows. We had to chuck rocks in it's face to get it to leave us alone.
Moose lick their lips as a threat when they're in fighting / attack mode. It's a sure sign to get away fast if one of them confronts you and licks its lips at you. In the following YT of a couple of moose confronting each other you can see the way they lick their lips at each other.
You don't get attacked by a moose if you're respectful and behave appropriately. Some folks should attend a few workshops before going out into nature. They'd learn a lot. hopefully develop respect for wildlife as they truly are, and enjoy their time out safely.
