Moose attacks happens because, either the squirrel gave the command or the squirrel got injured.

According to CDC info, fleas are not known to be carriers of Lyme disease. Did you mean ticks? The species of tick found on moose (winter ticks, not deer ticks) are not known to be carriers of Lyme disease. As climates warm and tick populations expand farther north, that could change.

Winter ticks can be deadly to moose. So many of them can infest a single moose and suck on the moose's blood that adult females can become too anemic to reproduce and calves can die.

A moose does not have to be “crazed” or pregnant to attack. Moose attack humans or at the least charge them all the time. My ex-husband and I came across moose on the road around 3 times over the years and gave them some space but they charged the car with the hair up on their hackles. During the rut the males are more aggressive and many hunters trying to call them in by either sounding like a competitive male or a female get charged. Of course a cow with a calf is always dangerous.

On the ski slopes, every now and then a moose will charge a skier. Hint: an adult moose can charge faster than most recreational skiers can ski. Ski patrol gets moose training. The ski patrol typically will close off a given ski run and wait for the moose (cow/calf) to move along prior to opening it back up.

Saw moose three times while out hunting this fall.

It was nice seeing them out and about.

That's crazy. It reminds me of seeing tourist trying to get up close and personal with other large animals like elk and bison. Personally I'm not scared of black bears, but when I have seen them I still always kept a safe distance. About 5 x farther away than other people do. But getting close to any really large animal is just nuts.

I knew someone who hit a moose with a small car. The car was totaled. The moose got up and walked away.

I hope he sued the moose for violating his right of way.
