Can someone provide a reason why the other thread got locked?

You can email the mod to find out why it was locked.
I suspect strongly it was the hysterical conspiracy-theory stuff someone posted.

Thanks for the great pics and keeping us updated.
I have a friend coming in from Seattle to spend a week at the Omaha airport (airline affiliation) - can you tell/show us what it is like around there? I told him to pack his waders...

Protecting the highway from water on Hyw 75 near Plattsmouth. Hope it holds if water gets to it.

Not the best conditions for taking photos with the overcast and drizzly skies but I had a little time to go and see what I could see

A view of the Missouri River from Downtown Plattsmouth. Problem is the river should be way out on the other side of the trees. Note the buildings "out there" See the street signs and light poles.

ROAD CLOSED Access to the riverfront is not needed from Downtwon Plattsmouth now. The River came to the edge of Downtown instead.

Thanks bugeater! GREAT photos!!

At the risk of getting this thread locked too , here is some crazy conspiracy theory stuff to take a gander at:

YouTube - ‪Dam is Cracking - Gavin's Point - USACE Plans Explosion.flv‬‏

Now that the College World Series is over, people in Yankton, SD should expect to hear the charges go off any minute now...

Now back to reality...

Here is another video, this one blew my mind, as it really put things into perspective for me the reality of how bad it is:

YouTube - ‪Missouri River flood 2011 from the air - stabilized.‬‏

Still photos are bad, but the video just really underlines how wide-spread things are.
