I currently live in the Dodge City, Kansas area. I have visited and stayed a few times in the Norfolk area and absolutly loved it. The only thing is I will need an area that is easy to start over because I will be starting off with almost nothing. So if you have any input into good towns and such please help. Thanks

Norfolk is a fairly good sized town with jobs available. Housing might be a little more difficult just because of cost, but if you look at the surrounding bedroom communities (Wisner, Madison, etc.) you'll expand your options.
Personally, I can't think of a BAD town in that area. I grew up in Wayne, so my bias is obviously that direction.
However, Wisner is a nice town. Pilger. Pierce. Battle Creek. Stanton.
There're all good places to call home.

Not sure about the other towns but Pierce is close enough to Norfolk that it just as high cost. Don't rent in Osmond. There is one lady that owns almost all the rentals and renting from her is like getting an evil mother in law.

Is it just you (OP) moving or bringing kids etc?

Update

If you looking to live in a small town for lower housing cost it just doesn't add up when renting.

At 50 cents a mile x 20 miles x 2 for to and from work x 5 work days per week = $100 per week x 4.33 weeks per month = $433 dollars a month difference for housing.

I know I live outside of Norfolk.

So only move to a surrounding small town for the benefits that town has that you want. Quiet, less crime, schools, etc.
