Define a "decent job."

I imagine Lincoln is lower because college and government towns simply tend to be, but Nebraska is strong overall, but these other factors explain why Lincoln is 1% lower, plus Omaha has an area of urban blight and high unemployment dragging up the statistics.

The general theme seems to be there are not a lot of high paying jobs readily available in Nebraska, however there are lots and lots of hourly jobs in the 10-15 per hour range ripe for the picking. At this stage of my career just starting out this is what I am looking for.

But if I had the levels of education for a six figure job I'd go to someplace with lots of these.

Omaha sounds like a good place for people with just a high school education or recent college grad, but not the best for somebody with a PhD.

The company I work for cannot find enough people for white collar/office jobs. Good pay, and the best treatment I have ever received in this industry. Coincidentally if any EEs, MEs, draftsmen, or computer programmers are looking for a job send me a PM.
