My boyfriend got a job in Axtell and we will be relocating to the area in the beginning of June. Our lease is up at the end of May in Denver. We are having a hard time trying to find any rental homes within 40 miles (aside from Kearney which we're avoiding).Especially any that would allow a cat. He's 13 and we won't be getting rid of him. Any tips?

Try the Minden Courier, Kearney Hub, or Holdrege Daily Citizen. Not sure how you would be able to get a copy of them out there but you could try contacting their offices to see how you might get a copy.

Also I would try local real estate agents. In Minden there is McBride Realty and Rhynalds Auction and Realty. I'm not sure about Holdrege but you could try googling it. Wilcox and Hildreth are nice small towns about 10 and 15 miles respectively from Axtell (much smaller than Minden and Holdrege but this will depend on your personal preference and budget). For them you could try Alan Alberts at Dorn Alberts Real Estate, 308-470-0780.

As far as being permitted to have a cat you will have to check with the landlords on an individual basis. You shouldn't have as much trouble as with a dog, but as with anywhere having a pet makes it harder to find a rental.

Congratulations on the move and feel free to ask if you have anymore questions!
