Hi, we are trying to move our family to Kearney. My husband is looking for employment there. Does anyone know of any places that are hiring? Also are there any cheap motels there that have weekly or monthly rates?

Or possibly somewhere for rent that is cheap where he can stay temporarily while he finds a job and makes money for us all to go out there?

Eatons, Baldwins, Cabelas call center seem to always be hiring. Look at the kearney hub online or check out Nebraska workforce development website (zip for kearney 68847). You would have to call the hotels for rates, I suggest looking in yahoo yellow pages for numbers as there is a good number of hotels in Kearney, the ones near the interstate are the best. For renting also look in the newspaper, Kearney seems to have alot of rentals with the college being here. Any more ?'s just ask.

I may be moving to this area also. I am awaiting reply on a job with Schreiber Foods in Ravenna. Being from an area of around 50,000 people in central Arkansas, I am looking into either Kearney or Grand Island and commuting to Ravenna. Any oppinions on either town or suggestions on what some of you might do would be very helpful.Thank you

Grand Island is bigger and closer to that 50,000 population from which you are coming from. I have a personal bias for Kearney because I grew up there but I think Kearney is a little better of a city. Kearney has about 30,000 people and the crime rate is lower. Grand Island might be a little cheaper to live in. Shopping in both towns is pretty good, Grand Island has a few more options because of its size. You probably can't go wrong living in either town.
