Can anyone tell me where some playgrounds/parks in the la vista and papillion area are? I finally moved my wife and kids up here on wedsday of this week and need to get them out. (especially the kids). Was wondering where some parks are for the kids to play.

Papillion has a great park system.

First, go to downtown Papillion (south on 84th) and you will see City Park on your left (west side); however, turn right (east) and drive behind the Junior High School and you will be at Halleck Park - go to the back side of it and there is a pond...

Second, Walnut Creek is a city park that is a large regional dam site with a 2.5 mile walking trail around it... take 96th street south across Highway 370 and the lake is on the right - you'll see it.... if you are on 84th, just go south to Highway 370 (McDonalds, Courthouse, etc), turn right, go to 96th (2 lights) and turn left.

Third, here is a link to both Papillion Parks Directory (broken link), Papillion Park Map (broken link)and LaVista Parks Directory...

Fourth, if you just want to get out and walk around without parks go to Shadow Lake Towne Center - the mall... enough stores in a compact area that you just park and walk around. Take 84th south to Highway 370 and turn left... go to bottom of hill and you'll see the mall on the right (south side)...

Finally, for other ideas, here is a link to Sarpy County Tourism... lots to do if you want to go to Mahoney State Park, SAC Museum, Nebraska City, etc, etc... poke around this site... Good list to get you started -

P.S. A great afternoon (or two): Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo one of the best in the world

If you like baseball, Nebraska Cornhuskers are playing UC-Riverside at Haymarket... its only a 45 minute drive for you: Great college baseball in a great stadium, its cheap to get in, places for the kids if they get bored, and good food... Have to hop in the car now - game is at 1:05 (I'm headed down) - Mapquest (96th & Giles/Lavista to Haymarket Stadium)
