US 75 does get gnarly if you take it all the way into the city, unfortunately. But it's not bad north of the city. What I'd do is get off of US 75 in Blair (a small town a bit north of Omaha) where it intersects US 30, and then drive south on US 30 until it intersects with Nebraska State Highway 133. Then take 133 south and it becomes 90th street, which is one of the major north-south roads in Omaha. The route's a bit twisty-turny (a GPS helps) but from a traffic standpoint it isn't bad at all. You can see the route on Google Maps.
