My wife and I are looking at buying an apartment in Lincoln. The prices seem right and my wife's family lives in Grand Island. I'm in the Foreign Service, so my wife and I are only in the US for about 6-8 weeks every two years. We're really just looking for a 2-bedroom apartment with a sophisticated, urban feel (high ceilings and/or lofted bedroom, crown moldings, granite counters, stainless-steel appliances). I know that's a tall order in the Midwest, but my MLS results are coming up with absolutely nothing suitable in Lincoln. Surely, there must be some nice apartments in the downtown area? Or should we be looking in Omaha? I'm hoping tha I'm missing something. If any locals could fill me in, or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it!

Omaha probably has a lot more for downtown living, but surely Lincoln has some options. Maybe try the journal star online?

Lincoln will have some places like that but probably not to own. Check Omaha out. That has much more of what you're looking for.

I'm not sure when you're coming, but they are building new high-end condos in the Haymarket as we speak. I think they're called "The Option."

Also, I've seen advertisements for some condos in a building on 9th (or 10th, I don't remember) and O. The number is on the sign, if you have someone in Lincoln that could run by and check it out.
I agree, though, that the majority of Lincoln apartments are going to be rented.

The Lincoln Building is the link to their website. Also on the opposite side of the corner is Federal Place Apartments (which is where Tommy Lee stayed when he was in town filming that reality show). University Towers is another one I think off of 13th street that you can purchase.
