Crime is about usual for a place this size, but a lot better than Omaha. They say we have a "small town" feel, and I agree. Schools for a 2 year old? Guess there are programs/daycare things, my children have their own children. My youngest daughter worked for LPS for 11 years, the schools seem pretty good to me. Nice parks, a zoo, childrens museums, and close to Omaha for a larger zoo. However, for a 2 yr old, this zoo is great. My g.k.s like to go there and spend the day, there is shade, animals to pet and feed, play area, train, etc.

Lincoln schools are good, but I would suggest Norris School system, just south of Lincoln. My wife and I were not from Nebraska, so we had no ties to any schools, when we decided we needed to think serously about schools, it was easy to decide on Norris, we both had never heard anything bad about the school in 10 years of living here only good things. There test scores are always near or at the top of the state. So far we have a 1st grader and kindergarten and are very pleased with all they have learned. Where are you moving from to get a prospective of your opinion on crime? Compaired to an equal sized city I grew up in in Louisiana, Lincoln is a safe haven, if you are from a smaller town, you might think there is alot. Go to the main page on this site and check it out they have some good info. Also about the schools, the Norris district is with towns like Hickman, Roca and Firth. Hickman and Roca are less than 10 minutes from all the growth in south Lincoln, and the way Lincoln is growing south will soon be less.
