Problem is that from what I've seen they are pretty much thinking that folks are downsizing, so they don't have what I want or need, for the most part. Cute stuff, yes, but not what I need.

Having been a department manager for some years for Wal Mart, and having run those Black Friday sales, I have a particular loathing for them anyway. Don't like the sheep herd mentality, or the screaming and yelling and fighting, and usually the products they have on sale are about to be phased out for a better model, or already have glitches in them. Built-in obsolescence is the norm instead of the rarity, I know, but still - those Christmas lights had better at least last a SEASON!

The fancy Kodak dig camera I bought had a flash that lasted 6 months - and once it went out it was more expensive to ship it off and have it fixed than it was to buy a new one. So I am simply not a fan of fast, cheap, and easy... one of the main reasons I moved to NE!! I didn't like the madness of more and better... like this thread started out, "Where else can you play Barbies under the craps table?' I chose a better way of life for me, slower and more comfortable, happier and more centered.

I don't mind if other folks want to live that way; it's their choice of course. But I like the slower pace and the homemade wooden creches, the fluffy 'snowflakes' on the light poles rather than the wire lighted frames everywhere. The FD in Valentine has a wire-framed, light/motion Santa and slegh and reindeer on the front, but even they wrapped it in garland so it is fuller and prettier - and visible in daylight. I like my homemade fruitcakes and rum balls. I like a slower, more relaxed way of living. And Black Friday simply doesn't fit into that at all! LOL

Sorry, gotta go soak the fruit in rum and brandy until it gets twice its size, then to fold it into the batter... and still have to prep the deer meat for jerky... Ahhhhhh. THIS is living....

I love Omaha, and all of the great things about this city..

But growing up just west of Omaha in the country was just so surreal...

The rural areas in the eastern part of the state are marvelous..

But the Sandhills is a one-of-a-kind type of place, there is no place on the entire earth with that type of scenery and I kid you not! That is my #1 choice for the future, I just hope that the Sandhills remains secluded and doesn't become a development hot-spot in the future..

I live in a small town just outside of Lincoln. You would think people here would be nice but instead they all have that Lincoln "I'm better than you" attitude. God I hate this F'ing place. LINCOLN SUCKS and so does all of Lancaster, Saunders, and Cass Counties. These people here have nothing better to do than make your life miserable. All they think about is what's in for me?, instead of trying to help each other. Those people who say its not true, are living behind a glass bubble. They all have been born here and haven't lived any place else. I have lived in 5 different states and have traveled to 35 states. Yes there are worst places to live, but Lincoln and its surrounding communities is right up there. Only because the people here SUCK!!
