I do think that they should refer them.

But I would also think that the members of the Church should have a right to determine where their donations should go. On the flip side, this headline would be appalling to some Catholics - "Catholic charity donations go to support lesbian couples". To some this would be as inflammatory as "Catholic charities support abortion clinics". If you don't believe in something, why should your money go to support it?

Also, from the patient's point of view - why on earth would anyone want to see a psychiatrist who believes that, no matter how sincere, hardworking, and loving a (gay) couple is, their counselor believes that they are going to hell? I'd rather know a counselor's prejudices (no they shouldn't have them, but the last perfect Human Being was hung on a cross, so let's not pretend) up front, and have the opportunity to go elsewhere. If a counselor believes he will go to hell for helping gay couples stay together, then he should be able to make that choice - and so should they. Too many counselors take their patients' problems to heart anyway, and lose their professional ethics to patients' anger, pain, and suffering. Why increase the load?

It's okay, I refuse to perform my services for Catholics because I think they are scary and have contagious mental health issues.

I'm sorry, but that's just funny.

Whether or not I agree with them, Catholic Charities has the right to serve or refuse anyone they want. They have the right to serve only Catholics, if they so choose.

My retribution is to refuse to patronize a business and/or refuse to support them financially, through donations.

I would love for churches to lose their tax exempt status. All of them.

It would not be a problem for churches. Believe me.

They'd pay property tax, but that's all.

The REAL problem with their tax exempt status being revoked is that there would be a legal battle in which ALL tax-exempt entities would end up losing THEIR status as well.

In addition, pulling their tax exempt status would turn all churches loose to be as active politically as they wanted. And many would make politics the CENTER of the activity.

So... I think you'd probably wish your dream had never come true.

Fine, then my "dream" is that all churches turn into Laser Tag arenas.

Oh like they aren't already? The church I used to go to had many local politicians making appearances around election time.
