I tried to reply to your original post yesterday but then it was 'cyber-erased' so I'll try again. You are a new immigrant but "have never lived in Texas." Perhaps many Americans are paranoiacs vs Texas due to its' SIZE? Texas (or Tejas) believes as a state they still rule the minds of the rest of us as most recently seen by their elected officials wanting to "overturn the electoral college vote" albeit they are a red state and TRUMP won it. The People have answered with their votes! Someday (I hope) in my lifetime or yours the "electoral college" will be abolished and our President will be elected by a straight "popular vote of the People?" THEN all this 'childish bickering' will not be necessary.

The flag? As has been said many times "a symbol." Those citizens WHO wrap themselves in the flag and wear it in their fashions are not "very patriotic" or in your "eyes TRUE AMERICANS." Some may be but most are hypocrites, but another label passed around (but historical) are 'fascists.' Please learn where fascism evolves from: the middle class.

A phrase I heard in college years ago: "my values are not your values." Unfortunately we are a deeply polarized nation and it will take decades or a renewed civil war to change any of that? Be safe and healthy in 2021. Thank you.

I'm sorry. My above post needed to be directed to "Angel Calzadilla" and NOT AlekZD. Happy 2021.

Texans are fine until you say anything critical of Texas or compare Texas to somewhere else and claim that somewhere else is "better" or even as good.

They'll turn on you in a hurry.

With respect to Texas, I don't have much experience, other than driving through the panhandle on my way from Chicago to Phoenix in January once, and seeing a bumper sticker that said, "Freeze a Yankee in the Dark". I still laugh about that one. I've heard the Hill Country is very pretty, and would probably like the weather of the Panhandle overall: mild winters, dry, and a less severe summer than areas further south. Gotta love a state that has so much respect for 2A, although Nebraska probably isn't that far behind, since so much of it is rural. Also for WWII historians: Fredericksburg is the home of Adm. Chester Nimitz, and hosts the WWII Museum of the Pacific War (I may have botched the name a bit). They're going to get my Mom and Dad's WWII stuff one of these days.

Looking at the climate arguments, I wonder if one wouldn't be better off simply splitting the difference between NE and TX by moving to Wichita, LOL.

It was actually a song played on the radio in Dallas many years ago....."Cut off the gas, turn off the oil, and let ‘em all freeze and boil
... and "Freeze a Yankee in the Dark" We're gonna keep all the gas we can make, and let them Yankees shiver ‘n’ shake. LOL

Texas felt almost indestructible a few years back, but this past year the states failure to prepare for the massive winter storms, the outdated energy grid, along with states incompetence and lack of oversight on keeping these same greedy energy companies unchecked, it was pretty brutal in TX for that one week. Add in Hurricane Harvey, the Illegals coming over the Rio Grange en masse with Biden's open borders, the states increase in violent crime, it puts a small dent in the myth of an invincible Texas. It's still an amazing state, no doubt and offers a lot a great options and scenery for just about everyone....but Nebraska is kind of a hidden gem, even though it's in the top five least visited states in the Nation.

And no Wichita is never a good option, Kansas City MO, is a better mix IMO of Dallas, Ft Worth, with a touch of Lubbock mixed in.

I don’t think Kansas City, MO has much at all in common with Dallas, Ft. Worth, of Lubbock... It also doesn’t have much in common with any area of the Midwest along and north of I-80 either..,

I haven't spent that much time in Nebraska. I have always enjoyed my time there and find the people of Nebraska to be very welcoming.

I lived in Wichita, KS for 2.5 years and I certainly don't miss it or the people.

Texas is could culturally be divided 3-5 ways really. I suppose Texas has a brashness that I personally find endearing.

No doubt Kansas City Missouri is a hybrid between the continental Midwest climates, the semi arid climates out west and the humid subtropical climates down south all rolled into one IMHO

All true. It's the state's size that makes them arrogant. As GW famously said in the debates: "I've been the governor of another country." After Alaska was admitted Texas lost its' nbr 1 size amongst the states. If Texas were Rhode Island (albeit the BLUE belt) nothing to comment on here.

Texas vs Nebraska? Both RED states. Nothing more to add. Joe Biden wants us to be "United" but as a famous historian wrote: "live within the truth....not within a lie." We haven't been "United" since the 80's and Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America." LOL.

Texas is NOT 'the good life', but don't say that in their presence!
