This has a direct effect on health care and so does (please excuse me for this) pleasure drugs so to speak such as viagra and the thousands of other non life threating or stricly issues such as laziness, overweight so on and so forth.
So just think you will be paying for your neighbors enjoyment (so to speak) or for some fat lazy piece of trash or for millions of illegals whose own country threw them out or for millions of prisoners not to mention millions of troops fighting phony wars.
I do support taking care of our troops but do not suupport huge military takeovers of other governments or land oil etc in the name of captilism.

I must also mention i live in brown county nebraska and am a self employed carpenter and have a wife and 2 children with no insurance and have no problems living on 25 to 35 thousand a year (a modest living to say the least) but my son broke his leg the other year and had no problems paying for this out of my own pocket and also numerous dental appoints as well.
For someone to say we can not afford to even pay for a doctor visit is proposterous and untrue.
A new truck cost like 4500 dollars in 1978 and then went to 18000 or so by the year 1985 would be more apt to grab my attention

Like you, I have worked hard all my life. When I say hard I mean 70 – 80 hr workweeks for the past 30 years. No days off and no vacations. Have I been successful? I guess some would say that, although I am by no means wealthy. But for others to think I should pay for their health care with my hard earned wealth when they are unwilling to work like I have is just plain wrong. As I have said in previous posts, I give generously to those is need, but I give of my own free will and to those I feel most in need. I have even offered financial help to others on this very blog through private messages. But this is not the same as government confiscation of my wealth. My own health insurance premium is close to $700.00 monthly, and that is with a high deductible. Would I rather it be less? Of course. Would I rather drive a new vehicle other than my nearly 14-year-old Dodge truck? Of course. Would I give up my cell phone, computer and internet if I couldn’t pay my own medical costs? Yes I would.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not against helping those truly in need. Arizona has a program called ACCESS, which provides state funded medical assistance to those who truly cannot afford care, and although there are inefficiencies, I support that program. But when I stand in the checkout line behind someone buying steak for their dog because they can’t use food stamps for dog food. I’m sorry, that’s wrong. When I see folks leaving the food banks talking on their cell phones. I’m sorry, that’s wrong. When I see folks leaving the Dept of Economic Security and driving away in a new car. I’m sorry, that’s wrong.

If you study history you will find that our federal government confiscates more wealth and wastes more of that wealth than most can even imagine. I’ll never understand how folks can have any confidence in our government running any social program efficiently. There are estimates of between 50 and 150 billion dollars annually of fraud in the current Medicare program. Take the time to read about “The New Deal”, what was promised and what was actually delivered. Read about the failed promises of “The Great Society”, a well-intended program designed to eliminate poverty. Read about the government take-over and the creation of the Dept of Education. Study what has really happened to our educational system in the past 30 years, what we now spend on education and where we now stand as compared to other countries around the world.

While others may claim to be better educated and better informed, I think what is really lacking is what I call “real world common sense”. This is something not taught in schools, not learned on the internet, but is self-descriptive… learned in the real world.

Sorry for the rambling.

Michael j that was not rambling but rather a good hard working americans life and beleifs with alot of facts thrown in.
I also have some old dodge trucks.
You also bring up a excellent point on our education system which lags behind a good many countries and is run by the government.
So if the government education system is not a failure it sure leaves alot to be desired and is a good indicator of how they will run the health care.
I apologize in some of my previous posts i addressed dave and meant fred apparantly do to posting on multiple sites.

Would like to add a couple more thoughts on some of my previous posts.
Alot of drug addicts are getting false teeth while incarcerated in prison and the expense of the rest of us or the u.s.
hair transplants and sex changes, plastic surgery, erectile disfunction or any little minor issue that should not be addressed medicaly but rather pshyologically or physical personal problems are being used as factors when your government is telling you how expensive health care is in this country compared to other countries figures when the comparison can not be made due to social differences and dieseaes that do not exist or at least not on the same scale such as ed,hair loss etc.
This can also be seen with the us prison system which is far by the largest in the world.

Could not refran from adding this (not sure of spelling but remember terri schravo) where the supreme court made a decision between the disagreement of husband vs mother and father on whether to pull the plug or not?
Washington dc also had a tree transplanted in the middle of winter due to taking 6 months to get this approved and any half ### farmer knows that you do not transplant trees in the middle of winter but according to bare ### obama we need to shut up and let the government decide (even if it takes 6 months) on which patietns the plug should be pulled on or who. when, how any and all of us will receive treatment, death, drugs, the amount, the consistancey of treatments or wheter we will be treated at all.
bottom line the supreme court will decide on all these issues.UHOH another conspiracy theory?
Do not think so but provvvvve mmme wrong

I just saw the video of Obama's budget director Peter Orszag from the Economic Club in Washington D.C. speaking about the statuary power of the Independent Payment Advisory Board to decrease health care costs by decreasing the quantity of health care visits. This is the type of rationing that the left has constantly denied up until the bill was passed.

Good news just keeps on keepin on !!

The economic report released last week by Health and Human Services, which indicated that President Barack Obama's health care "reform" law would actually increase the cost of health care and impose higher costs on consumers, had been submitted to the office of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius more than a week before the Congressional votes on the bill, according to career HHS sources, who added that Sebelius's staff refused to review the document before the vote was taken.

"The reason we were given was that they did not want to influence the vote," says an HHS source. "Which is actually the point of having a review like this, you would think."

The analysis, performed by Medicare's Office of the Actuary, which in the past has been identified as a "nonpolitical" office, set off alarm bells when submitted. "We know a copy was sent to the White House via their legislative affairs staff," says the HHS staffer, "and there were a number of meetings here almost right after the analysis was submitted to the secretary's office. Everyone went into lockdown, and people here were too scared to go public with the report."

Headline from Reuters May 31, 2010

Soaring costs force Canada to reasses health model

Canada, fretting over budget strains, wants to prune its system, while the United States, worrying about an army of uninsured, aims to create a state-backed safety net.

Healthcare in Canada is delivered through a publicly funded system, which covers all "medically necessary" hospital and physician care and curbs the role of private medicine. It ate up about 40 percent of provincial budgets, or some C$183 billion ($174 billion) last year.

What's the title to that song? Oh yeah, "Welcome to the Future"
