dynimagelv when was the last time you were in Mesquite? Almost sounds like...........NEVER! Jobs here are somewhat scarce, but housing costs have dropped considerably. Very nice condos can be bought in the high 90s and low 100s and new homes start in the 140s. Lots of resales, as well. Check out the MLS listings for Mesquite. This is a great little community, nice weather, beautiful scenery, and close enough to get into Vegas and far enough away from the crime.

We too have been considering a move to the "sunbelt".. Bullhead City, Havasu, and Laughlin are interesting also.. All of these seem to have good real estate bargains (if retired).. Jobs? the consensus seems to be it's tough.. What I would like to know is Mesquite as hot, on the average than Bullhead, Laughlin area? I'm not sure, but local residents pay less for golf than vacationers, if that relates.

No, Mesquite is not quite as hot as Bullhead/Laughlin or Lake Havasu in the summer but can come very close. Mesquite is quite often hotter than Las Vegas as it is lower in elevation.

ETA:

Mesquite:

Bullhead City:

Lake Havasu:

Las Vegas:

As you can see, in the summer, Mesquite's daily average highest temperature is between 100 and 110, Bullhead City is a hair over 110, Lake Havasu is a hair under 110, and Las Vegas a hair over 100.

As was previously described in order of "hotness" comparing the places you mentioned, it's Bullhead City (often having the highest temperature in the country, along with places in Death Valley, in the summer), Lake Havasu, Mesquite, and Las Vegas.

I spent a weekend a few years ago at the Mesquite Airport....on a flying outing....

I have lived in Las Vegas for 50 years.
I have spent time ine the summer in Death Valley.

I have NEVER seen anything so hot in my life as that weekend in Mesquite.

I have no idea what the temp was but it was freaking HOTTTTT
