cre8lite, the plant in your first set of pictures, the one with the pretty white flowers is Jimson weed, also known as locoweed. It is also poisonous. Get rid of it. I don't know what kind of plant that "clover" is. I have Jimson weed growing at my place too and I get rid of it asap so my horses don't eat it.

cre8lite, Thank you for a most informative forum on Pahrump.

I can't help but wonder about earthquakes in Pahrump. city-data has a section on earthquakes and states that Pahrump, and Nevada in general, stand at about seven times the US average in earthquakes. They list earthquakes for the last several years with many in the 7 plus intensity, however they are all centered well over a hundred miles away. So, what has been the effect in Pahrump? And, are there building codes intended to address the issue, or is it even an issue?

earthquakes are a non issue. i'm from northern california. i've been thru many earthquakes, including the 1989 loma prieta that destroyed the bay bridge. in the 12 yrs i've lived here, i have NEVER felt an earthquake.

** disclaimer - the one & only earthquake that las vegas felt a few years back (2015), i was out of state. i believe it was a 5.4 so there's a good possibility i would've felt that one.

That was I think near Caliente...so a long way from LV.

The RJ said at the time...

************************
Areas within 30 miles of Las Vegas have a 12-percent chance of experiencing a magnitude 6.0 earthquake within the next 50 years, according to the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology.
**********************************
I believe the similar projection for a 7.0 was 0.2%. So it could happen but is extremely unlikely.

Yes. In fact a rubber seal on a spaghetti bowl ramp came loose and they shut the ramp down. Turned out nothing series though.

i took some of my "clover" down to star nursery this weekend, to see if they could tell me what i've got growing & their official opinion is

yep, it's a weed alright. you can spray it or pull it

since my "clover" isn't exactly harming anything & it looks pretty in the yard, i'll keep some of it. the more i pull, the more i find elsewhere in the yard. i'm glad i'm not in a hurry to yank it all out
