Taking a 4 day roadtrip starting May 15th from Ashland,Ore thru Cedarville,Ca,and down to Gerlach and the Black Rock Desert....then on to see some ghost towns including Manhatten and Belmont. May stay in Gabbs. Have never been in these towns. Any suggestions on sites to see in these areas and does anyone know how bad the road is to get from Cedarville to Gerlach? Thanks!

Thanks for the post Humboldt...we will check it out. We are just 3 old timer friends searching out the lonely byways, cafes, saloons, ghost towns, etc in the Great Silver State. We are all from oregon and in our 50's. May do a hike or two. Mostly there for the history, huge starry skys, smell of sage, the stillness of the desert, and mostly NO BOSSES. We heard that cheap real estate can be had in Gabbs, and with a motel there, will look into that. Possible retirement area? Cheap land, low taxes, low expenses...none of us have too much money.
