I have been noticing a low pitch humming noise when I am inside. It somewhat resembles the sound from a diesel truck parked a few houses down the street with engine on. It is on 24/7. Sometimes it is loud, sometimes it isn't.
When I was outside last Sunday morning (March 28th), I could hear it loud and clear. When outside, it sounds like thunder or jet engine from a location far away. If there are other noises (traffic noise, construction noise, etc.) it is difficult to differentiate it.
I am in 89061 zip code in the south part of the town.
Anyone else noticed this? Anybody knows the source?

There's an area of Phoenix where there's a hum and it comes from the chilling towers at local internet data centers where masses of servers need constant cooling.

Maybe there's one of these data centers near you or a large business with some cooling towers.

Do any of your neighbors hear this noise?
If yes, it isn't you, it's probably industrial.
If not, you may have a health issue.

My bet is on Cre8lite for the win!

We used to have stock car racing on the outskirts of Carson City and you could hear the engines roaring miles and miles away on the weekends. I can hear the Carson High marching band practice and the steam trains at the railroad museum whistling and chugging.....and I am many miles from those activities. Then there is Street Vibrations, when all the Harley's are in town for their festivities....yes, the whole city shakes ha ha!

I looked up the Spring Mountain Raceway and it looks like it is used for training and racing...so louder or not so loud at times.

You're a top sleuth, Cre8lite

That was my first guess. It depends on how many cars they have on the track as to how loud it is. I hear them on a regular basis.

I have noticed it since I moved to Sierra Vista, AZ. I first thought it was my gas-pack (furnace/AC) unit on the roof, that it was operating in an error mode--so I cut power to it. The sound still occurred. It went away for weeks at a time but tonight reappeared. I googled.
