How is living in Pahrump? I visited the city, seems like a lot of old people, not much happening. Homeless encampment by the Salvation Army, sad can't they find some place for these people to live?

Default Living in Pahrump

We've lived here for 16 months, and can honostly say that we enjoy the community. The population has grown to about 40K, with 65% being Senior citizen. There are also about 9K Veterans in the Valley. 6 casinos, 5 golf courses, a great winery, a new hospital, and almost all the shopping needs.
There are hundreds of 'Snow Birds' year-round, who camp at the casinos, etc.
Home Depot will open January 2008, so growth is expected to continue.
You can buy any size lot and build to suit. Pahrump in unicorporated, with a Town Manager, and County Law enforcement. Las Vegas is about an hour, East, and Los Angeles is 4 hours Southwest. Most of the city housing is on sewer and well, as there is no natural gas in Southern Nevada. Most homes use Propane. Pahrump is 'High Desert' living, so the temperature fluctuates between cold winters and hot summers. It has snowed here, but doesnt stick. "It's the desert"....
All in all, most of the people are very friendly, so come out to visit and see for yourself.
