For those interested in radio controlled model flying, there is a paved runway flying site around 3 miles east of Mesquite on Arizona state land. "Desert Fox Flyers" club annual membership is $25 for adults, in addition to liability insured Academy Of Model Aeronautics annual membership of $1-$58. Beginners generally start with a simulator, to learn hand-eye coordination, before flying a durable trainer design.

As discussed in this article (http://mesquitelocal.com/pages/090607fields - broken link), weekend baseball tournaments are popular in Mesquite, and the number of diamonds keeps growing. Future regional park information.

Default Just signed a contract for del webb-

hello all-was in mesquite last week and signed a contract in sun city.
why did i buy in mesquite?
1-a very clean and safe town
2-prices in del webb are unbeatable -i paid $135 a sq. ft and recieved many incentives and the best part is i am price protected up to closing-they will adjust the price if it falls.
3-10-20 years ago i was thinking mesa az. or vegas ,but it is nuts in these places now-come out of phoenix airport and 6 lanes both ways greet you along with the traffic.
vegas-nice but i do not want to live there-living in mesquite i can visit vegas during the week and drive back home -1 hr.
st. george has anything i want with a 20 min. ride.
4-i will be a snowbird-coming from wi.-i will arrive in mesquite the first week of nov. and stay until the middle of may and then go back to wi. till the following nov.
probably do that for 2-5 years and then plan on staying in mesquite permanantly.
5-very impressed with the hospital, new casino and other new additions in recent years and the slow articulate way the city of mesquite seems to be growing-

i was first attracted to mesquite -st. george area about 10 years ago when some friends and i went out there to golf for a week.visited every yr for the last 3 yrs and just love it.

so looking forward to moving there-it will be nov. 2008 until i am out there as i am not retireing till summer of 2008,but when we went to del webb last week i was very impressed with price and every thing included there.
they have had 2 price decreases since they opened and are giving all sorts of incentives-plus with the price protection till i close next july-aug 2008 why not!
all have a great week and weekend and I LOVE YOUR CITY!

We just visited Del Webb again last week. Interested in this community, just not sure I like the "closeness" of the homes, KWIM? We still havent decided on a model yet (series 1 or 2), have to work out the $$ and sale of our current home.

Mind if I ask which model you chose?

Question Water Issues?

I just saw a special on the Weather Channel regarding the effects the drought in the SW has had on the water table/supply. Per this show, I discovered that Mesquite has tapped into the Beaver Dam aquifer for an additional water source. But this show led me to believe that Sun City is being built, and they may not have enough water to support the additional homes??!! The drought may not allow the aquifer to replenish itself!!

I have always been told that Mesquite has its own aquifer, and can support the expected growth....and that it does not rely on water from the Hoover Dam like LV. So why tap into the Beaver Dam aquifer if it doesn't have any water issues? I was also surprised that AZ law allows other states to tap into its water supply, this is decided by each state, and the residents are hopping mad!

Does anyone have knowledge about this??

I was hoping to get updated information on the current water status. If the Mesquite aquifers are more than adequate to provide water to a growing Mesquite, then WHY is the VVWS buying water from AZ?? What is the need?? Is Mesquites need for water more critical than authorities lead us to believe?

I sent emails to Sun City Mesquite and the City of Mesquite on Sunday hoping for answers/reassurance, to date no response!! Is this such a complex issue??
