Hi,

I was trying to look into information on Minden/Gardnerville for possible relocation. It was looking pretty good and then I was just told that this area is a known drug/meth area. Could anyone give me any info on this?

The two things I am trying to avoid in chosing a place is snow and drugs. I am hoping this is not true

Thanks!

Leilani

PS How far is the drive from Minden to Reno?

Well Minden and Gardnerville get lots of snow but I don't know if they sell drugs around the area.

Unfortunately, this entire area has a huge meth problem. Carson City, my hometown, seems to have it really bad because we're smack-dab in the middle of a bunch of towns (Reno and Sparks to the north, Dayton and Mound House to the east, Gardnerville and Minden to the south, and Lake Tahoe to the west), so the meth dealers decided we're a good central command center. However, the crimes tend to stay localized to certain areas within the town. If you live in a somewhat decent neighborhood, you shouldn't have a problem. There are a lot of houses and apartments that are in those good areas.

Apparently Meth is widespread everywhere. A truly idiotic drug,, but I don't know if you will find a town where meth is absent. I certainly would not let it interfere with my relocation plans.

Are you familiar with the area around the CC airport? Seems to be one of the more affordable areas of CC and I wonder of it's because people are averse to living near an airport or?

It's not too popular around the New York area, except among the gays, for some reason.

When I lived in California, it was everywhere. I used to sell lab chemicals in Berkeley, and we'd get calls for precursors all the time. What's kind of funny -they'd put their girlfriends on the phone to ask for the red phosphorus, like we'd think that because they were girls, they were'nt criminals. The last thing they'd hear was us laughing as we hung up on them.

If Psuedoephedrine is used to make meth, could not one use Ephedra? Ephedra, or Mormon Tea is found all over Nevada. The Mormons and the indians used it as a stimulant. Apparently it also induces abortion.

Yes, it sure can. The active principle is an optical isomer of pseudoephedrine - ephedrine. They are mirror images of each other.

It is quite common in Asia (where this stuff is running rampant, also) for meth cooks to use native plants as feedstock.

This "pill law" will not have much effect, IMHO. Most of the stuff that's on the street is brewed up from precursors bought quasi-legally from China, in labs in the hinterlands of Mexico. Then, they bring it over the border. It's a real growth industry for the gang hoods.

I moved to Carson City NV in June 06 and sadly that was one of the first things I noticed was a lot of teens with decayed teeth and gums. Someone mentioned that it was from using crank. Then I started noticing all the Don;t Meth with me signs all over the city, Billboards, Library, Restaurants gym, every place I went to .

I mentioned once that the city makes so much from the casinos and brothel industries you would hope they use that money to help these kids.........they are OUR future.

I live next to te Carson City SHeriffs office and the Courts. You think that be a clean place welllllllll think again. it's bad what goes on around Roop and 5th Street. Minden and Gardnerville I have been during the day. Its very nice area. What I would do is ask the Sheriffs office. See what they say about the crime and drug rate.
