I also work in Merrimack and used to live there. I agree with yls' post and would add that there are farmers markets in Manchester as well as miscellaneous farm stands all over if you can find them.
If things move forward with the NH move I'd be more than happy to talk to you on the phone as I am very familiar with the area - don't worry I'm not a real estate agent!! Private message me if you're interested...
Merrimack is great community. Besides good schools, has excellent police force (low crime), many walking trails, sports fields, excellent library resources, excellent community programs. Travel to Boston, Mtns, and seashore approx 1 Hr. Shopping centers are close by, as are hospitals and other health care, Has farmer's market, and local farm stands / produce. New Manchester airport access road is being built from DW Highway. Good access to highways, but some have Tolls. House values are now good, but Property taxes are high, because NH doesn't have income taxes. Electricity costs are approx. $0.17 per KWH (Total including Taxes and delivery fees etc....). Have lived in Town for 34 years and brought up 2 children here. You can also look at Bedford NH, and Amherst NH, for comparison.
