When I lived in New England (03-06, oh how I want to go back), the thing I always heard was, "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait 15 minutes." "New England weather patterns" is a bit of an oxymoron I think. It's pretty variable, even in the flatter parts of southern NH, but especially the farther north you go toward the White Mountains. I seem to remember a freak, white-out blizzard in late April one year. There are no guarantees in the Great White North.

Guess that's just the risk we will take no matter what month it is then. Perhaps it will be best to have it a little further south as I said, like NY, and maybe urge guests to begin travel on Thursday if they can take fridays off.

There's never a guarantee that there will be snow on the ground - except in the White Mountains/north.

I would choose either late Jan or March.

Late Jan is mid-winter, best chance at snow on the ground is near 100%, but there's also a slight chance we could get some Jan thaw type temps.

March is also nice because we still get snow, but it's starting to get brighter out and there's 50/50 chance at a nice relatively warm day.
