hello. I plan on buying a travel trailer to stay in while shopping for a home in upper NH. Errol is a nice town i was there in feb. can anybody give me any advice on things to look out for?
The one main thing I can think of to tell you to look out for, is MOOSE. Do Not, I repeat DO NOT hit a moose in anything that is legally on the road. If you hit a moose you want a Abrams Tank, and I hear they suck on miles per gallon.
Also, they just broke ground for a bunch of 400' wind turbines on a ridge from Errol to Milan, if that's of concern to you.
I don't know if you can establish residency in NH in a travel trailer. I was told no, but we were calling towns in the Upper Valley area. It may be different in Errol.

Wind turbines along route 16? I'll have to go up that way again in June when I come in for my visit.
Sorry! It's Dixville and Millsfield, not Errol and Milan. I'm overtired and had those towns on the brain today, for some reason. They're building them in the Phillips Brook Tract. The substation will be in Dummer.
The camel's nose is under the tent now. This is just the beginning, unless NH puts some regulatory hurdles in their way or something.

Interesting.. I also read about the massive wind farm they built in Franklin County, ME by the Quebec border. It looked pretty scary as they blasted into the mountain to build the substation base. So, NH now has the Northern Pass and Wind Energy issues to deal with... This is all absurd considering NH needs 0% more electricity than it currently produces!
There's a bunch of projects proposed for the eastern side of VT too, but some groups there have been doing a good job of stalling the wind developers for about 6 years now. Don't know if they'll win in the end though.
We really do need to reduce our use of fossil fuels to generate electricity but whenever anyone tries to set up a wind development the local go all NIMBY. Try to install the second reactor at Seabrook and the entire seacoast would scream like a flock of angry gulls.
Hey gang; this is one country and not a bunch of independent fiefdoms. The wind projects have to be where there is wind and the nuclear where there is condenser cooling water for the steam engines.
