So the apartment I am currently living in is super nice. The building itself is a DUMP. Upon viewing the apartment the landlady gave the impression that the building wasn't ordinarily dirty and that it was due to the fact people had just moved out and the workers fixing stuff that caused some damage and debris. I have lived here since July(2011) and have complained about the state of the building since then and the most they have done to "solve" the problem is they vacuumed. I have a small child and refuse to put him down in the hallway because I'm not sure what he's going to get into. I live on the third floor, I don't go grocery shopping unless there's someone to keep an eye on him. Basically to be honest I think it could even be a health risk just walking through, it is that bad. I am just wondering if there's something I can do to either get her to clean the building and KEEP it clean, or else can I move with out breaking the lease?? I just don't know what to do and I can't stand the filth anymore.. Please help!!

call the city health inspector, they'll send someone out to validate your complaint. Contact the NH Bar Association to get information on Landlord & tenant rights/laws. If you moved in and it was the same condition you probably do not have a leg to stand on unless it is so filthy that it is a public health risk.
