Perry urges repeal of New Hampshire gay marriage law - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/perry-urges-repeal-hampshire-gay-marriage-law-155646228.html - broken link)

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Texas Governor Rick Perry pressed a conservative social agenda at an appearance in New Hampshire, calling for the repeal of the state's 2009 law legalizing same-sex marriage.

"I applaud those legislators in New Hampshire who are working to defend marriage as an institution between one man and one woman," Perry said, adding that he supported the "sanctity of traditional marriage."

This should not be on his, or any presidential candidate's radar. This state issue is none of his business and he should worry about FEDERAL issues, like our crappy economy and foreign policy. He's just peddling for votes from social conservatives.

Really! What business is it of his? He needs to go back to the Lone Star state and take care of his OWN business there.

Presidential candidates from both parties over the years have come here and commented on NH issues-this is certainly nothing new. Then they go on to Iowa, South Carolina, whereever and comment on hot issues in those states-again nothing new. Is this really a surprise to anyone? This is not the first candidate to do it nor will it be the last.

That being said, I do wish Rick Perry would go back to Texas and stay there.

I was amused listening to him speak in NH and rallying cheers for the Texas Rangers in the World Series followed by a response from the audience in which you could hear crickets (as if Red Sox fans really gave a turd). He was also trying to be animated while plummiting into jackass mode. He is self destructing, it's kind of amusing and tragic at the same time. These debates are becoming like a reality show series.

Don't get worked up about anything he says. He doesn't stand a chance. The repbulicans are going to get stuck with Romney because Herman Cain will not get enough votes because of the PaulBots.

As a conservative, Perry shut shut the F up. Get .gov out of the marriage business, and let the churches decide who they want to "marry".

No government or church nor anyone else should have anything to say about who may marry. Getting permission (marriage license) from any authority needs to be done away with.
Any two consenting adults should be able to have any kind of ceremony, or no ceremony for that matter, and be considered married. The couple would only go to a county clerk's office and sign a declaration of marriage. This would be for legal purposes only. Financial matters and so on.
The only role government should have is to record the declaration.

Why is everyone in an uproar about an "out of towner" meddling in this?

It was meddling out of towners and a two timing governor that got the law instituted in the first place and I don't recall too many of you supporters being upset with that.

I support gay marriage in NH and in fact have become rather proud of it
