Claremont is littered with them, worse than billboards, IMHO!

Probably because that town was instrumental in instituting a state-wide school tax (I come from a donor town).

If I were a Claremont resident, I would:

1). Put up no trespassing signs (to hopefully not get shot)
2). Never admit I was from there
3). Expect hatred from all the the donor towns
4). Attempt to grasp the concept of "Live Free or Die". It is monosyllabic, so perhaps it can be understood.

LOL what do "no trespassing" signs have to do with school taxes?

If you don't want trespassers, the law requires that you post signs every 100 yards. It's that simple. Not everyone wants people running around on their land. Hell I was taking a walk one morning on my own 14 acre property and ran across a hunter. He propably didn't realize how close he was to our house.

that's what particularly worries DH. When we do get to build our dream in-ground home, people won't even see that it's there! He is not happy about the idea of working around the yard and people hunting that close.

Something else people forget is just because something is posted doesn't mean you can't use the land; it just means you have to ask for permission and get it written down (fish & game even provides a template for this). Most hunters I know ask for permission to use land, posted or not. Most folks with posted property I know also readily allow hunting with permission...

Can also post it with " hunting by permission only" signs.

Doesn't posting property affect the taxation?

Some of my best hunting spots are posted properties. I have been given permission to hunt these properties simply by asking.
I haven't noticed excessive posting in Claremont, but do notice that through out NH a lot more posted properties then in years past.
Lots of folks from away have moved to my State and decided to post the nice tracts of land they buy. I hear transplants from MA talking about "their deer" and "their turkeys" on their property.
On the flip side, I also know a few local families that have posted their properties as they are scared of the liability that inexperienced hunters, hikers, etc could or have caused them.

I choose to place "hunting with permission only" signs on our Warner property. We have livestock and just want to make sure that everybody knows the difference between a boar goat and a whitetail deer.

Only when it involves over 10 acres.

Interesting.... Didn't know this.... I am sitting on 41 acres here, and am going to post (I don't want hunters on my land). Do you know the rules (or where I can find them?)
