I'm just asking because I'm looking where positions are open as oppose to location right now to get a feel .. Pay for Hanover dispatcher is between $18-26 an hour so pretty good and they have positions. How secluded does it feel because a town can be secluded but not FEEL secluded if that makes sense? It's by Vermont I know . Does it feel Keene secluded or is there more going on?

Free staters? How bad are they there if at all.. I know its no Seacoast town but being realistic we have to go where work is and I'm finding towns here and there (Bedford is another one) .. So anyone with info that could help me would be appreciated!

*Oh how are the hospitals in the area? I'm assuming okay since theres a college there..

Hanover and nearby Lebanon are one of the economic success stories of the North. It is where Dartmouth College and Medical school are located. There is also a world class hospital and many associated medical and high tech companies. This makes Hanover relativity expensive to live but there are several nearby towns that are more reasonable. The town is somewhat isolated as the nearby cities are mostly bring your own job locations.

Bedford is a completely different situation. It is within commuting range of the Boston and the high tech belts around that city. Bedford is definitely “upscale” but there is plenty of housing available in Manchester. Manchester has a couple of poor neighborhoods like any other ageing industrial city. Unlike most it also has some industrial production of its own.

I wish you good luck and please PM me for more information.

If you think Keene is secluded, forget Hanover. Good hospital, though.

Keene IS secluded. Hanover is not as much. Hanover has easy access to the highways. However, it is out of the way - it's 2 hours from Boston and 1.5 hours from Manchester.

Last year it made Money Magazine's list for the top 100 towns to live in - Hanover was #6. In 2007, it was listed as #2.

Best Places to Live 2011 - Top 100: Town details: Hanover, NH - from MONEY Magazine

The 2010 census lists the population at over 11,000.

here is a nice driving tour of the town:

Hanover sits right on I-91 if that matters to you any. Manch sits on I -93. Hanover also sits on I -89 and Rt 4 which are all major rds in that area.

NH is bad for east/ west roads.
Winters in Hanover would be harsher compared to the Manch area.

hanover is nice, somewhat out of the way but not as bad as Keene. the college is Dartmouth (of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical) and is known for it's hospital. However... it can be horribly cold!!! I had a friend who went there in the late 70s and the tales she told of how cold it was for the Winter Carnival... you won't like it.

Bedford, I think you might like. It's not as agriculture as many of the towns and is right near the airport. It's somewhat upscale and has easy shopping.

Too urban for my taste but I would not call it secluded. In addition to I89 it is just across the river from I91.
