Just curious as to why you would suggest this?
I was considering the Merrimack Valley area, as I thought the winters would be slightly milder than the North or Northwest.

1. NH consistantly ranks as one of the states with the top 5 lowest overall tax burdens.

2. A 2 year old $20K car registration is in the $400-500 range. In my opinion - although you may pay a little bit more than AZ it certainly is not even CLOSE to "evening out" based on car registration. (See #1)

3. If you live in NH and a spouse works in Maine then you get hit for Maine state tax. If you live in NH and a spouse works in Mass - then only your spouse gets hit.

incorrect - the income of both (from 1040) is considered when you pay MA taxes. You generally pay more than if taxed on MA income alone.

Where can I look up what a registration would cost - both for personal vehicles and for trailers.

Thanks.

Call a/the city/town clerk. they should be able to give you that information. Just have your auto info available such as year, model, weight etc.

Yep.

If it's anything like Colorado, expect $1K+.

Does NH have home exemptions by age for the homeowner who lives full-time on their property similar to what we have here in Hawaii? I could not believe the high property tax rates in NH even compared to Hawaii WITH our sales tax and state income taxes..
