I'm Doing a "Gift" certificate for Night out for my sister/DH in NH (Nashua).

What is the 'going' rate for a sitter.

Two kids (Boys) 7yo and 7 month old

Will be my niece / the boys cousin (18) who will be doing the sitting. (She does not drive yet).

I guess apx 5-6 hrs.

Geez, that is way cheaper than a dog nanny... I was running $15-$18 an hour for a dog sitter (but I have had her since 1998, and she is virtually a member of the family).

Wow, that's a lot of money for a dog sitter. You can almost get a full day of doggy day care for one hour with that sitter. What kind of special qualifications did he or she have to rate that kind of pay? Taking care of a dog is much less involved than childcare.

Let me know if you need a dog sitter. $15.50 per hour is my special rate for you!

This was a private dog sitter, in my home, no other dogs, multiple walks every week day (M-F). She had to drive all the way to the house, and the dog received the utmost attention, snacks, and experiences. She was a retired little old lady that loved animals. When I was working 12-14 hours a day, it would have been unfair to leave the dog home alone that long.
Some of us really love our pets. (I now has a trust set up for the dog).

But I digress... back to the topic at hand, "kid sitter rates", where I cannot add any value to the thread.
