We're relocating back to the area and are interested in three properties in these towns. Wanting to stay within a reasonable drive into Concord, have privacy but not way out in the middle of nowhere (relatively easy access to shopping, conveniences, etc.). Schools are important as we have a little one but also looking at this as a long-term investment - there's a good possibility we will need to rent this place at some point over the next few years while my husband finishes up with his military service, before we settle in for good. So overall, what area would you recommend and why? Thanks for any input.

Why are you targeting these towns? How about Alton which has a much more reasoanble tax rate and a 30 minute drive to Concord. Not sure about schools in Alton, but Prospect Mountain High School is a somewhat newer campus right off 28 south of the Traffic Circle.

There are specific properties in these towns that we are interested in. Not much in Alton as far as what we want/need.

I mentioned Alton because the property tax rate is about half as much as Pittsfield and more reasonable than Belmont. Pittsfield and Belmont do have more affordable properties but I expect tax rates to continue to rise based on past trends.

I would knock off Weare.
But do let the good folks of Weare chime in as to their perspectives.
Belmont is OK. Located in around the Lakes Region and to interstate Route 93.

For logistics I would choose Pittsfield because of location to other major cities such as Concord, Manchester, and Rochester.

If it were me, I would choose Belmont simply for proximity to the lakes. I have no idea how the schools compare with the other 2 towns, which may be your biggest concern. Wish I could help more but that's all I've got

My kids went thru the Belmont Schools.....they enjoyed school....(good school spirit)....and they got a good education. Belmont has a real "home town" feel about it.....not fancy like Gilford or Gilmanton....

.I was happy to raise my family in Belmont. Its not perfect but it is "The Best Little Town by a Dam Site"

Can I ask why you'd not consider Weare?

I too was interested in some real estate in Belmont. I was curious why it was more affordable to buy a house with a little elbow room in Belmont compared to other nearby areas. Is there something "wrong" with Belmont?
