Small business ran from home, online, specifically. I read that NH wasn't too unfriendly towards small business and then a couple of you said it wasn't friendly at all.... Can you tell me why, or point me in the direction of something to read about it?? Thanks!!

I wouldn't go so far as to say the state of NH is unfriendly, I would just caution that it is not paradise. If you're not running a brick and mortar business you'll have it easier, since you won't run the risk of having to interact with your local municipal government (who can sometimes be thicker than a brick).

Just watch for the business enterprise tax and business profits tax. Do the math before you take the plunge. If you are flying under the radar with a small microbusiness you will likely be ok. If you are highly successful, figure out a way to increase your expenses because the state can and will wash its hands in your enterprise.

In addition to what FrugalYankee said: Look for the rules/policy on "minor occupation" and "major occupation" for home-based businesses in the town of your interest.

NH's Business profits tax and enterprise tax are due if your profits/activity crosses a threshold. Here is a thread that touches on this topic: //www.city-data.com/forum/new-h...-nh-taxes.html
