New Hampshire? Vermont? Maine? Or Massachusetts? Or do you find all the antique auctions around Boston? Where are the closest and BEST ones held?
I plan to settle somewhere close to the Seacoast area like Exeter, but my car goes all directions!
And by BEST I mean getting good quality items at non-ripoff auctions (no fake bidders and the like).
Who is the best auction company in the area closest to the Seacoast?

Massachusetts has the most volume of sales in my opinion. The mainers and new hampshire people tend to hang on to stuff for years hoping to sell it. Mass people sell in high volume and have many more buyers.

Ebay is also good for antiques.

There's a guy in the Epsom NH area, George Foster, who has really good prices and nice items. He doesn't try to squeeze the last penny out of the crowd, and he has a good, loyal following of people willing to pay him a fair price. He's been in the business a very long time.

Here's a link to a New England auction calendar that might be helpful.

Try WWW.LEONEAUCTIONS.COMGreat Estate auctions. They do not have a set schedule so you really need to watch their site.

I think Brimfield is probably the largest and most famous.

Brimfieldshow.com, the Home Page for the Brimfield Antique Shows!

But they're done until spring. Here's a site that will tell you what's coming up and where:

New England States Auction Page - ME,MA,CT,RI,NH,VT Auctions

My family has sold stuff through Gary Wallace, who holds auctions year-round:

Gary R. Wallace Auctioneers Inc.

There are also a number of good sources in Portland, ME.

George Foster sold some dining room chairs for me. We both knew that they were not a high quality, some had small drops of paint on them when we painted the bedroom ceiling, and the four leather seats were cracked. Not really a quality antique lot, but they sold, and he sent a check. He listed the sales price and his commission and I was happy.
I would like to see the Brimfield extraveganza sometime.

Default Where are the BEST Antique Auctions in New England?

Auctionzip will help you find auctions in New England. Go to the Brimfield Antique Show if you are in the area.

I went to Central Mass Auctions when I was at Brimfield area and liked their auctions.

Besides what has been mentioned there are shops all up the coast and every where else too. Some are junky, while others are top shelf. In the junky types you can find gems, but not in the upscale shops. In the upscale shops they know what's what.
