I'm looking for some things to do in my spare time. Preferably cheap or free. Hikes, museums, shows, clubs, groups, community meetings, anything like that. I try searching through the Hippo and stuff but that's a ton to sort through!

I'm trying to explore new interests, 20 years old so no wine socials please

I'm up for anything. Thanks!

For starters, easy walks really in Manchester: Dorrs Pond, Samuel Blodget "Park"

Walks with a hike feel: Massabesic Lake; any of the many town forests (Hampstead has an excellent one)

Hikes a bit outside Manchester: Bear Brook State Park (Allenstown), Horse Hill Nature Preserve (Merrimack)

Thank you! Do you know of any other things besides hikes I could participate in? (It's rather cold out so I don't want outdoorsy stuff to be all I do!)

Elm Street has many bars and pubs, as well as a handful of clubs on Elm and Granite Street.

Unfortunately I'm 20 years old, so I'm unable to go to bars and pubs/clubs that are 21+. Plus, I'm looking for things that will explore interests and help me experience new, exciting things... not so much looking to party as I've spent the last three years or so doing :P

What is it you find exciting? Manchester has an awesome riverfront, with large stone pillars scattered throughout the waters. Elm Street is the heart and soul of the city. Cool thing is, it's the longest dead-end road in the US.

What I usually do when I am in different city, I don't research on what there is to do. I simply let the road take me wherever it goes, and let it happen from there.

Hikes: -Uncanoonac Mountains (North and South) about 10 miles west of the city.
-Massabesic Trail in Manchester/Auburn
-Rockingham Trail. Goes from Manchester almost to the seacoast.

Museums: -SEE Science Center (Bedford Street) right by the mills and river
-Aviation Musuem (Perimeter Road) Literally right next to the airport runway

Shows: Palace Theatre Hanover Street. Right off of Elm.

Clubs: Elm and Granite Street.

Join the library. You can get free passes to lots of different museums...both in NH and Massachusetts. We get passes for the SEE Science Center (at least go see the Lego millyard once), MFA Boston, Aquarium, etc.

New Hampshire Audubon | Audubon NH | Birds NH The Audobon has locations in Machester (Fishways) and Auburn.

I know you aren't old enough to drink, but tours of Budweiser in Merrimack are free...just no samples for you.

The Palace Theater has very inexpensive shows.

Take a tour of the State House in Concord.

Rock Rimmon during the day ( Hiking) Go to the Museum Millyard Museum | Manchester Historic Association and lean a little about the cities history., nearby you can check out the Mill Girl statue . As you cross the Amoskeag bridge ponder the fact that there used to be a covered bridge that stretched by the falls there.. Pine Island park the remmanents of what was once a rather popular amusement park

Default Currier Art Museum

If you have any interest in the arts, you should check out the Currier Art Museum, located on Ash Street in Manchester. There are several thousand pieces of art on display: paintings (by a few of the Masters), furniture, pewter, glasswork, etc. And TONIGHT (Feb 6, 2014) there is an Art After Hours event, free to the public. The event runs from 5:30 till 9:00 pm, and there is a cash bar (for those over 21 ) and a full menu available in the cafe. Hopefully you see this in time to get there, if you are interested in this sort of thing. My daughter is 22, and if she was in town, would definitely be attending.

Something else that is fun to do, even if you are alone because you haven't made many friends yet, is an evening at the Muse Paint Bar. It's one of those 'painting parties' for people (like me) with no painting talent, yet we get to bring home our own 'masterpiece'. It really was alot of fun
