So, I made another hike in the Lakes Region today. This time it was the Mt. Morgan - Mt. Percival Loop in Holderness. If you're in decent shape, a little bit adventurous, and have good hiking shoes and 5 hours to spare, this is probably one of the most fun hikes in the state. It's not nearly as tiring as most of the big mountain hikes, as there are a good number of flat sections, but there is lots of fun rock scrambling and even some little caves to go through if you want (you can also avoid them if you're claustrophobic ). Unfortunately, the trail was pretty muddy because of all of the rain, but in most places we could walk across on stones. And all the babbling brooks made the hike all the more enjoyable.

Of course, the views from the summit alone make the hike worth it-

Squam Lake with Winnipesaukee behind it:

Ossipee Mountains (left), Red Hill (where my last photos came from!), and the eastern end of Squam:

The peaks of southern Grafton County:

Mt. Weetamoo I believe...:

The peaks of the southeastern Whites:

Sandwich Mountain:

My mom sitting on the ledge overlooking the lakes:

And some photos from the trail:

Scary ladders we climbed to the summit of Mt. Morgan:

...after which the trail led through this narrow cave:

...before we had to climb up this:

And the trail down wasn't much less daunting:

All in all, a very enjoyable hike.

ok, I am really hoping the picture is attached so I don't look like a moron...
Lisa - the picture came out fine and I'm glad you enjoyed the drive! Where did you end up going?

Very definitely - the further north you come, the less traffic there is on 93 and even on 91 in VT. Even during the "tourist season" traffic thins out nicely on both of those roads

Hi Dare, We went camping in Warren. Finally made it to Clark's Trading Post and loved it
Drove right past the Woodstock Inn pub I've been dying to go to but no time to stop there this trip. I realize how close we were to Littleton and Thayer's Inn...but it will have to wait for another trip.

LACarole, thanks for sharing your pics! I love the pics of your dogs in the car
Verseau, that looks like an awesome hike and a perfect day, imo! Thanks for sharing your hiking info, I'm taking notes.
Bryfry, what dramatic cloud photos! If it must rain so frequently, at least we have sights like that to serve as 'intermission'!

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing all those great pix of NH!!

With everyone sharing pix of their pets, I wanted to share some of mine too, but I can't quite figure out how to do it yet!! Here are some I found on line.

My cat Blue looks like this:

My cat Natasha looks like this:

Believe it or not, both of them were "rescue" kitties!! I never wanted an exotic cat because of all the work required grooming them, etc., and now I have two!!! But I wouldn't give them up for the world!!

The first picture is my 2 daughters, Haydn (18) and Carron (15), the next one is of myself and Carron, the third one is of Carron and our babies Silver Belle and Duchess, and the fourth one is of our 2 dogs and 2 others that we were fostering at the time, Choxie and Dixie. These next 2 are of our girls in their car seats going on a trip with us. We think they're cute!

Asta, your kitties are gorgeous! Good for you for rescuing them!!
JFR - love your dinnertime picture. Tigger looks like he's one of the clan now and even looks like he's already growing.

JFR - that is too funny!! It reminds me of how my dogs lined up when we were fostering some others, but we only had 4 total - and only 2 permanently. How do you keep up with all of those? Half the time I end up starting with my oldest child's name and working my way down the list until I call out the right name!!! Ha ha ha!
