Hello, My husband and I are looking to relocate to the Concord area. We currently live in kentucky but are from Colorado so snow isnt a problem.we have been doing a lot of research and it seems like a really nice place to live. We have been looking in the Allenstown and Epsom areas. Those houses there are in our price range. Does anyone know if those are nice neighborhoods? Are they trashy? Any info would be greatly appreciated. And suggestions of other neighborhoods too please. Thanks

The neighborhoods can vary from street to street. I suggest looking at the Concord Monitor news paper and WMUR (nearly useless TV) websites to develop a "feel" for the area. Then take a trip to the region and look around for a couple of weeks. The time between the start of the new school year and the Fall Leaf Peeper's invasion is nearly ideal. I also suggest looking at houses within the Concord city limits. There are some fantastic Victorians available (guess) available in the neighborhoods west of the Capital.

what's your price range if you don't mind me asking? are schools important? Epsom and Allenstown are not bad towns but wouldn't be my first choice.

Question Price range? Housing needs? School requirements? Other priorities?

Epsom isn't bad, but there's nothing there, no retail, minimal recreation, just a place to live for commuters working elsewhere. IMHO, boring.

Compared to what I've seen in Kentucky, even the worst trailer park in that area doesn't come close to being "trashy"

Rural? Yes. Chicken coops and the occasional rooster? Sure, unless you buy into a HOA subdivision.

Answers to those two questions would go a long way towards getting more applicable advice on where to look.

My advice is to come up to NH for a visit and have a firsthand look around the Concord area for yourself.

Not really familiar with Epsom. Allenstown is ok but wouldn't be my first choice either. I wouldn't consider it trashy though. What kind of community are you looking for? I really like Concord and the town has some great neighborhoods as well. IMHO, I prefer the areas west of I93, but again, it depends on what you area looking for.
